KCATA boosting transit service for Memorial Day event this weekend

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Leave your car behind -- and worries about traffic and parking -- for the popular Celebration at the Station concert and fireworks display this weekend.

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority wants to make it easier to attend the event, offering more frequent service on its Main Street MAX bus rapid transit line for the event scheduled for this Sunday, May 25.

From 5 p.m. until the start of the concert, MAX will increase its service, operating every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes between the Waldo Park-and-Ride and the 3rd & Grand Park-and-Ride.

After the fireworks display, MAX buses will be waiting to serve concertgoers on the return trip. Customers traveling to Celebration at the Station catch and can get off the bus at Pershing & Main.

Regular fare on MAX and Metro buses is $1.50.
