KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- A treasured holiday tradition will soon return to street corners and storefronts all over Kansas City.
The Salvation Army’s 2014 Red Kettle Campaign kicks off Friday, November 7 and continues through December 24 every day except Thanksgiving Day and Sundays.
This year, bell ringers will be stationed outside more than 250 locations across the metro area. The ringing bell is a sound of hope and we need volunteers help to make the sound ring. To sign up to be a bell ringer this holiday season, go to www.ringkc.com.
The money collected during the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign supports many Salvation Army programs and services throughout the year including food assistance, emergency rent and utility assistance, a children’s shelter for abused and neglected children, alcohol and drug abuse treatment programs, senior programs and visitation, homeless shelters and transitional housing and prison correctional programs.
The Season Pass buttons are another way to support The Salvation Army this Christmas. When worn on a coat or jacket throughout the Christmas season, the buttons are a visible symbol of your support of The Salvation Army.
The buttons can be purchased online for a donation of $20, $50 or $100 at www.salarmymokan.org. A $1.10 shipping and handling charge will be applied for each button purchased.
In addition, new this year, people all over the country can share on social media why they support The Salvation Army using the hashtag #RedKettleReason. There is also the option to make a donation at www.redkettlereason.orgto benefit The Salvation Army in the Kansas City Metro area.
