KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Northbound I-435 over the 87th Street bridge is scheduled to fully reopen to three lanes of unrestricted traffic sometime late tomorrow, Thursday, October 16, weather permitting.
Crews are working on permanent pavement marking application and traffic control removal today and tomorrow.
Once these two items are completed, northbound I-435 over 87th Street will then be fully opened to unrestricted traffic.
Southbound I-435 over the 87th Street bridge reopening has been delayed due to the rainy weather these last couple of weeks and is now scheduled to fully reopen to three lanes of unrestricted traffic by Friday, October 24, weather permitting.
Remaining work to be completed on the southbound I-435 over 87th Street bridge includes sealing on pavement joints, installation of guardrail, permanent pavement marking application and traffic control removal.
Traffic will be directed through the southbound I-435 only project work zone via concrete barrier, signage and cones. Drivers should expect major delays during the daily peak time commutes and are encouraged to use alternate routes, when possible.
Updated daily traffic information for this project and for the entire Kansas City Metro Area can be viewed online any time at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.
The Kansas Department of Transportation and the Kansas Turnpike Authority urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
