Winn files for re-election



KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Kansas House Rep. Valdenia Winn will be seeking re-election.
Winn, who has represented Wyandotte County since 2000, filed her re-election papers today.

“It has been my honor to serve Wyandotte County in the House of Representatives, but there is more work to complete,” said Winn.  “I believe the best way to improve our economy and strengthen our state is to properly fund our public schools. “

Biographical information about Winn:
Rep. Valdenia Winn, D-Kansas City, filed today for reelection to the Kansas House of Representatives. Winn was first elected to serve Wyandotte County area in 2000 to serve the citizens of Wyandotte County.
Currently she serves on the following committees: Federal and State Affairs, Education, Education Budget, and Joint Rules and Regulations. Winn is also an appointed member of the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund and the Capital Preservation Committee.

“Valdenia’s priorities in the Kansas Legislature reflect the priorities of Kansas families,” said House Democratic Leader Paul Davis, Lawrence.  “She has advocated for increased public education funding, lower property taxes, and job creation for Kansas families.  I hope the people of Wyandotte County will send her back to Topeka to continue her excellent work.”

Rep. Winn is also a Professor of History of 41 years at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Active in the community, she is a member of the Struggler’s Hill/Roots neighborhood association, the Northeast Cooperative Council and the Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus. She and her husband, Keith Vincent Persley, reside in Kansas City.

General - November 4th
