Hanson to remain as police chief through 2014

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Kansas City, Kan., Police Interim Chief Ellen Hanson will continue to serve as police chief through the end of the year, according to the Unified Government.

Hanson was named interim chief on January 6, 2014 after former chief Rick Armstrong retired in December 2013.

"Chief Hanson continues to do a great job in the Police Department," said County Administrator Doug Bach in a statement. I met with command staff and informed them of my decision."

The search for the police chief will continue this fall according to Bach.
