KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Sumner Academy of Arts and Science earned a high grade once again from The Washington Post.

Sumner Academy was named the top school in the State of Kansas and the 339th best school nationwide by The Post's annual "America's Most Challenging High Schools" feature.

Sumner earned the ranking by having a high number of students take an Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and/or Advanced International Certificate of Education test.

The KCK school edged out a number of Johnson County schools.

All five high schools in the Blue Valley School District finished in the Top 10 in the state, while Shawnee Mission East, Shawnee Mission South, Manhattan and Shawnee Mission Northwest rounded out the state list.
