KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- The Kiwanis Clubs in Division 9 of the Kansas District will join together on Saturday, April 5th for a joint project of Kiwanis International’s annual One Day project.
Together, more than 40 Kiwanis members from the clubs in Division 9 will work at Harvesters Community Food Network, in Kansas City, Missouri. There they will sort and pack non-perishable food items to be provided to young people across the metropolitan area that are in need of food. Members will also be bringing along food items to donate to Harvesters.
The Kiwanis Clubs in Division 9 include: Gardner, Johnson County, Kansas City, Kansas City West, Leawood, Lenexa, Olathe Sunrise, Old Mission, Ottawa, Overland Park, Shawnee and Wellsville.
Kimberley Holm, member of the Kiwanis Club of Kansas City Kansas West, is the project coordinator for One Day in Division 9.
Harvesters is a food bank and centralized food collection and distribution facility that provides food and household products to agencies serving people in need.
In FY 2013, Harvesters distributed more than 43 million pounds of food and household products in its 26-county service area in northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas.
