KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Wellness & Fitness Center is asking everyone how far they can throw a Shamrock in preparation for the center’s first Shamrock Games.
“As the weather gets warmer, everyone starts to get restless about being outdoors and getting active,” said Joe Mundt, personal trainer at the KCKCC Wellness & Fitness Center. “The Shamrock Games are about just that, and they are free.”
The Shamrock Games are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12 at the KCKCC Wellness & Fitness Center. Games include ShamRockin Bowl, the Shamrock Toss, Pot of Gold Toss, the Gold Coin Fling, the ShamRakin, the ShamRock Obstacle Courts and the ShamRock Race.
Prizes will be awarded to many who participate. However, all activities must be attempted to get a final score. Donations will also be accepted for the American Cancer Society of Kansas City.
“We are using the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day to have a fun and somewhat silly event. We have wacky St. Patrick’s Day events planned to test everyone’s physical and mental skills,” Mundt said. “The KCKCC Shamrock Games allow students, staff and community members to come together in a fun competition to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in an active way.”
