KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- The 2014 Business Solution Series at Kansas City Kansas Community College will kick off next week with a discussion on how laws apply to small businesses.

The first breakfast of the year will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 at KCKCC,  Flint Building. Greg Goheen, from MVP Attorneys at Law will be presenting.

The kickoff breakfast is the first of five monthly breakfast meetings designed to help further economic expansion in Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties. The cost is $10 and reservations can be made by contacting KCKCC Workforce Development at 913-288-7210 or by email at jmatlack@kckcc.edu.

“The series will allow area entrepreneurs and businesses to collaborate, learn and grow,” said Jay Matlack, KCKCC Workforce Development Coordinator. “We’ll have two or three experts presenting on each of the topics at each of the breakfast sessions.”

The final four meetings to be held include:
  • Feb. 11 – Financing Your Business – Startup and Expansion. Experts will share startup financing options as well as funding options for business expansion.
  • March 11 – Business Share. Two local entrepreneurs will present their startups to a community of mentors, advisors and entrepreneurs. The business sharing will prepare a five-minute presentation and then engage in 20 minutes of feedback and discussion with the audience.
  • April 4 – Innovation Summit. Local entrepreneurs will pitch their newest ideas to venture capitalists and investors.
  • May 13 – Affordable Care Act. Insurance can be complicated, especially as a business owner. Ask questions to expert panelists to make the complicated simple.
The series is developed and created by KCKCC Workforce Development in conjunction with the Wyandotte Economic Development Council, Kansas City, Kansas Chamber of Commerce, the Unified Government of KCK-Wyandotte County, the Kansas Black Chamber of Commerce and the Leavenworth County Development Corporation.
