KANSAS CITY, KAN. – U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-KS) announced his office will still hold two Medicare Open Enrollment Assistance events to help seniors with the Medicare Open Enrollment Period, lasting from Oct. 15th through Dec. 7th.
“While the government shutdown is currently ongoing, my staff is still available to provide assistance to 3rd District Kansans. These are important events, and I encourage everyone with questions about Medicare Open Enrollment to attend,” Yoder said. “This year, there will be two separate events to help even more seniors navigate new changes to Medicare. Providing seniors with an opportunity for face-to-face assistance from knowledgeable benefits counselors is important to Kansas seniors, and I hope these events will benefit even more 3rd District Kansans.”
Trained volunteers with the Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK) program will be on hand to provide one-on-one assistance to seniors who have questions or who wish to make changes to their plans.
The assistance events will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m.- noon at the Argentine Library in Kansas City, Kan., and on Wednesday, Nov. 6th, from 9 a.m. - noon at the Matt Ross Center in Overland Park.
Medicare beneficiaries who wish to make changes or enroll for the first time need to bring their Medicare card, any current prescriptions (including dosage and frequency), and a list of preferred pharmacies.
The events are free and open to everyone. For additional information or to ask questions, contact Yoder’s District Office at (913) 621-0832.
