Four student athletes and the women’s softball team at Kansas City Kansas Community College have earned Academic All-American recognition for 2012-13.
Named an All-Academic team by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), the softball team coached by Kacy Tillery had a cumulative 3.33 grade point average which ranked second among 19 schools in the Jayhawk Conference.
Student athletes earning Academic All-American honors are Andrew Kreiling, baseball, 3.9 GPA; Alexandra Blaurock, women’s basketball, 3.8; Leah Oehm, volleyball, 3.8; and Chelsea Brewer, softball, 3.69.
In addition to the women’s softball team, four other Blue Devil athletic teams had cumulative grade point averages of 3.00 or better in 2012-13 – baseball (3.10), women’s basketball (3.08), men’s golf (3.03) and volleyball (3.00).
The softball team also led athletes earned Jayhawk Conferencell-Academic honors with 10. The KCKCC honorees:
SOFTBALL – Stephanie Blazek, Chelsea Brewer, Myrian Cisneros, Alayna Hernandez, Amelia Hernandez, Amanda Holroyd, Mierra Morrsette, Miaite Urena, Emily Walsh and Sydnee Wilkenson.
BASEBALL – Matthew Dye, Cole Frakes, Andrew Kreiling, Garrett McKinzie, Luke Norton.
WOMEN’s BASKETBALL – Alexandra Blaurock, Brittany Clement, Samantha Hurst, Nagihan Umutlu, Logan Vann.
VOLLEYBALL – Courtney Gunnels, Sarah Mertens, Leah Oehm.
GOLF – Kellen Brandt, Michael Civitate.
MEN’s SOCCER – Marcus Titterington.
