KANSAS CITY, KAN. ---- On Monday, Oct. 21, a drainage pipe repair project will begin on northbound and southbound K-7 at Nettleton Avenue in Wyandotte County.
Project work includes the repair of the lining of a ten-foot diameter pipe and adjacent lateral pipes under the roadway. Work will take place daily, Monday through Friday during daylight hours.
Project work will begin on Monday, Oct. 21 with minimal impacts to traffic as most of the work will take place off the highway shoulder. Some daily or overnight lane closures will be required later in the project for removal of slotted drains in the K-7 median.
These lane closures, when needed, will be posted in advance online at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp. Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via signage and cones.
The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
LG Barcus & Sons, Inc. (Kansas City, Kan.) is the primary contractor on this drainage system repair project with a total contract cost of $1.023 million. The scheduled completion date for the project late December 2013, weather permitting.
This project is funded by T-WORKS, the transportation program passed by the Kansas Legislature in May 2010. Find out more about this and other T-WORKS projects at: http://kdotapp.ksdot.org/TWorks/.
