KANSAS CITY, Kan.— For the 12th year in a row, Treads & Threads is poised to set new records.
Treads & Threads is the creative black tie gala on the Kansas Speedway infield which benefits The University of Kansas Hospital, and its clinical cancer program within The University of Kansas Cancer Center.
The event is Friday, September 6th at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from this year’s event will go toward expanding the personalized medicine program for cancer patients.
This year’s event will feature food from 23 of Kansas City’s best restaurants, caterers and desert specialists, many of whom have been with the event from the start.
One of those restaurants had to overcome tragedy to keep its streak intact. But, it was important to the people of JJ’s restaurant to be at Treads & Threads this year, after a deadly explosion in February.
JJ’s famous Paco Shrimp appetizer has been voted the best appetizer in the metro many times over according to Jimmy Frantz.
Treads and Threads is regularly voted as one of the top events in the metropolitan area. This year, the presenting sponsor is J.E.Dunn Construction.
Terry and Peggy Dunn are event chairs and the Sunderland family serve as honorary chairs. This year’s headliners are country duo Big & Rich.
