KANSAS CITY, KAN. --- The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department is investigating a fire at 813 Orville Ave.
Kansas City, Kan., firefighters reported to the scene just after 5 p.m. Friday afternoon.
According to KCK Fire Department PIO Deputy Chief Kevin Shirley, everyone inside the home at the time of the fire evacuated.
"Fire crews arrived within three minutes to find smoke coming from the front of the structure," Shirley said. "Crews advanced hose lines into the interior of the structure (rear bedroom) bringing the fire under control within eight minutes."
Seven people - three adults and four children - evacuated the home and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.
No one was hurt in the fire, which began in the rear bedroom area of the home. About $30,000 worth of damage was done to the property and contents inside the home.
The fire remains under investigation.
