While the first game on Kansas City Kansas Community College’s new soccer field will come Sunday, the official opening will come Wednesday, Aug. 28, when the Blue Devil teams will host archrival Johnson County in a doubleheader.
The Lady Blue Devils will host Hutchinson Sunday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m., kicking off only the second women’s season in history at KCKCC.
Official opening ceremonies will come Wednesday between the women’s game, which will kick off at 1 p.m., and the men’s game scheduled for a 3 p.m. start. Members of the KCKCC Board of Trustees and KCKCC administrators will deliver the opening kicks between 2:30 and 3 p.m.
The games will mark KCKCC’s first home games in more than a decade. Because the old field was not regulation size, Blue Devil teams had to play home games as far away as Swope Park and the new Overland Park sports complex.
In addition to the official soccer openers Wednesday, the KCKCC women’s volleyball team will open its home season against Hesston at 6:30 p.m.
