KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Laredo Lemurs smacked 22 hits and scored an American Association season-high 19 runs in a 19-9 victory over the Kansas City T-Bones in front of 7,011 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Friday night.

In the first two innings, the teams combined for 16 runs. Laredo scored two in the first on a Sawyer Carroll home run, but the T-Bones answered in the bottom half by scoring four runs on five hits – the most Kansas City has scored in an inning since June 11.

Justin Bass had an RBI, his first since returning from the disabled list, as well as Devin Goodwin, his 12th of the season.

The T-Bones’ lead was short lived, however. Laredo brought home eight in the top of the second on seven hits, making the score 10-4. The Lemurs never led by fewer than four runs for the remainder of the game.

Kansas City starter Eric Gonzalez (1-2) entered the game with an ERA of 2.25, but gave up 12 runs on 12 hits over four innings. Ethan Cole gave up four runs on six hits, while new additions Josh Hildebrand and Chad Robinson made appearances for the T-Bones. Laredo starter Fabian Williamson (3-1) got the win despite allowing six runs (four earned) over five innings.

Ray Sadler hit his ninth home run of the season in the ninth inning, while Devin Goodwin added a stolen base, his 11th. Kennard Jones and Matt Padgett each added doubles to their season tally, with the pair coming in at nine and 14, respectively.

The T-Bones will look to avenge their loss in game two of the series at 7:05 on Saturday night. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
