AirHogs complete sweep of T-Bones

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Despite two home runs and a ninth-inning rally, a lack of offense by the T-Bones was the difference as the Grand Prairie AirHogs wrapped up a three-game sweep, 4-3, in front of 5,988 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.

Kansas City managed to get two on in the ninth inning, the only time in the game two T-Bones were on base at once. With one out, a Trevor Coleman bunt moved Jairo Perez to second. But then Devin Goodwin flied out to right field, ending the game and his 18-game hitting streak.

Grand Prairie starter Derek Blacksher (2-4) mowed through the T-Bones lineup, retiring 21 of the 25 batters he faced. He was replaced after just throwing 69 pitches in seven innings. Patrick Mincey (6) got the save in the ninth, his second of the series.

Kansas City’s first three hitters went one for 12 in the game. Matt Padgett was responsible for their only hit, a double in the bottom of the ninth.

The Nos. 7 and 8 hitters, Brandon Jones and Ray Sadler, respectively, each homered for the T-Bones. Jones hit a solo shot in the third; Sadler hit a two-run homer in the fifth that tied the game at 2-2.

Lucas Irvine (1-3), who threw a complete game three-hitter on Friday, went 7 1/3 innings Wednesday, allowing four runs (three earned) on 11 hits.

After an off day Thursday, Kansas City plays host to the South Division leading Laredo Lemurs at 7:05 Friday night. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
