Starting with the May 17 program, Adventures in Learning will now take place at Grace Lutheran, 3333 Wood Ave., in Kansas City, Kan.
The Shepherd’s Center of KCK is grateful for its very long and successful partnership with First Baptist Church, and presented First Baptist Pastor Bill Delphia with a plaque expressing our appreciation for the use of their beautiful and spacious building.
In spite of the generosity of First Baptist, the building was becoming increasing difficult for the attendees to navigate the various flights of steps inside the building.
Our May 17 Adventures in Learning will take place at our new location at Grace Lutheran. The building offers entry-level parking and easy drop off of both people and equipment. Everyone is welcome to attend part or all of the day’s activities.
The schedule for Friday, May 17 is:
9 a.m. to 10 a.m. – Free blood pressure checks, as well as registration and fellowship.
10 a.m. – Choose from Travelogue, “Ireland” presented by Mabel Shutt or Issues, “View of Wyandotte County Chamber,” presented by Chamber president Cindy Cash
11a.m. – Choose from Words of Inspiration presented by Ken Nettling, Pastor at Grace Lutheran, or History, “Profile of 1965,” presented by Ed Shutt
Noon – lunch may be enjoyed for $4.00 (please call for a reservation)
12:30 p.m. – Captain Victor Webb, commander of the Community Policing Unit, Kansas City Kansas Police Department
Designed to celebrate and engage older adults, Adventures in Learning has been providing enrichment, fellowship and a noon meal for more than 27 years in Wyandotte County.
Adventures in Learning provides free morning health screenings, selections of informational and educational workshops, and lunch with an entertaining program.
These monthly programs are free and everyone is welcome to attend; join in one workshop or stay for the entire program. Lunch is served at noon for $4.
