There are now 10 candidates who have applied for the vacant Unified Government Board of Commissioners At-Large District 1 seat.
LaVert Murray and Janice Witt applied for the seat today.
Both candidates ran for an elected seat this year. Murray was defeated in the Kansas City Kansas Community College Board of Trustees race, while Witt was unable to advance out of the mayoral primary.
Murray previously served as the development director for the Unified Government.
The deadline to apply for the vacant seat is Friday at 5 p.m.
