The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department was called out to the scene of the fire just after 1 a.m. on May 12.

Crews on the scene within four minutes reported smoke in the rear of building. Crews reported heavy smoke in the building, but no visible fire. The sprinkler system had activated. BPU called to shut off power to building. Fire was caused by electrical issue with equipment that had caused smoldering fire. Crews were able to extinguish fire after shutting off power to machinery. A fire Investigator responded to scene. Fire determined to be accidental through faulty equipment. Estimated pre fire value $2,000,000, estimated fire damage $50,000. No injuries reported.
