Upwards of 30 dancers will be performing when the Theatre Department of Kansas City Kansas Community College presents the 2013 Spring Dance Concert Friday, May 3.
Choreographed by Haley Hoss Jameson and Sharell Hall, the concert will start at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on the KCKCC campus at 7250 State Avenue. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students and children.
Featuring modern jazz and tap dance, the performance will showcase techniques taught during spring semester classes.
“Hopefully this will be the first of many concerts to come,” said Jameson, who said ballet, jazz dance, dance appreciation and introduction to dance classes will be added to the curriculum in the Fall Semester.
Jameson is in her first year as an adjunct instructor in modern jazz, tap dance and stage movement while Hall is a KCKCC student who teaches at a local dance studio.
A graduate of Kansas State University with a BS in Dance and Theatre, Jameson also holds an MFA in dance from Texas Woman’s University in Denton.
She has previously taught three years at Northwest Missouri State in Marysville and five years as an associate professor at Cottey College in Nevada, Mo.
