Beginning at 7 p.m. this evening, Thursday, April 25, eastbound and westbound I-70 from K-7 to 110th Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction for a rolling roadblock conducted by the Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) and the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) for the removal of the existing Riverview Avenue Bridge girders.
Each rolling moving roadblock is scheduled to take approximately 15 minutes each, pending any unplanned delays.
During the rolling moving roadblocks, all traffic will be stopped at the entrance ramps to eastbound and westbound I-70 from K-7 and 110th Street for these brief closures.
KTA and KHP personnel will slow motorists down from the I-70 interchange entrances to give the contractor time to cut the girders and swing them safely out of the way.
There are a total of two sections of girders that will need to be swung out of the way, so there will be two separate rolling roadblocks.
All work will be completed and all eastbound and westbound I-70 lanes will be reopened to unrestricted traffic by 6:00 a.m. Friday, April 26.
