Pardon me for a little bit of a "selfish post."
You may recall that a few weeks ago, I wrote a good-bye column to the high school sports community in Kansas City, Kan., and the cities that are within the Kaw Valley League.
I wrote about a young man named Kendall Short, a running back at Mill Valley High School. At the time of the article, he had just signed with a Division 2 powerhouse football program at Missouri Western.
His high school sports career wasn't quite done yet, however.
This past weekend, he broke the Kansas 5A record in the hang clean weight-lifting event. He lifted 365 pounds in his last attempt, breaking the record and (obviously) securing first in the event.
