Man pleads guilty to kidnapping, burglary charges

Raymond Davis pleaded guilty as charged this week in Wyandotte County District Court to Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Robbery, and three counts of Aggravated Assault.

The charges arose out of a home break in the area of 81st and Berger in Kansas City, Kansas on September 3, 2009.

The defendant had broken into a home, the homeowner returned home and found him still inside her house. He held her at gunpoint, rummaging through her house and stealing various items from the home. He fired a gun at her twice.

She managed to run out of the house, he chased her down, beat her and shoved her into a van that he had parked on the street. He then drove off, shooting at two of her neighbors who had come to her rescue after hearing her screams for help.

He managed to get away and drove around for several hours, holding the victim hostage inside the van. He later dumped her off at the 3400 block of N. 26th St, KCK, where she was able to borrow a phone from a nearby resident and speak to police.

Davis was eventually picked up by Missouri authorities where he was incarcerated on a parole violation. In February 2012, he was finally transported to Kansas on our warrant and detained until this week’s trial. Mr. Davis is a career criminal, and is looking at presumptive sentence on the Aggravated Kidnapping charge alone of 620 months in prison. Sentencing is set for May 10, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in Division 16 of the district court.
