You too can own and operate your own business and Kansas City Kansas Community College will provide the necessary skills and tools to do so through its “Operation Jumpstart – the First Step” class which will begin in March.
But first there’s a free orientation required of all participants – one on Tuesday, Jan. 29, and another on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Both will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Room 2325 of the Jewell Center on the KCKCC campus at 7250 State Avenue. Registration for either of the two orientations can be made by calling 816-786-3959.
Designed for persons wanting to own their own business, the first of 11 sessions of the First Step Entrepreneurship class will be held Saturday, March 2, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The remaining sessions will be held on nine successive Tuesdays starting March 5 from 6-9 p.m. In addition, there will be one Saturday class April 20 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Facilitated by Judy Bumpus of Bloom Business Consulting, the training series will both evaluate a business concept and develop a feasibility plan.
In addition to hearing dynamic guest speakers and entrepreneurs, participants will write a feasibility study for their business concept and work with highly skilled business coaches who will assist in developing those plans.
Step-by-step activities, worksheets and in-depth information are also provided in a participant workbook.
Normally priced at $395, the class is being offered for $75.
