Snow still in the forecast for Kansas City

The National Weather Service, as of midnight on January 30, is still calling for significant snow-fall across the Kansas City metro area.

A winter weather advisory is in place for the metro area.

Most of the metro is expected to receive at least 1-3 inches of snow. Some areas could receive 3-5 inches of snow.

Full forecast from the National Weather Service:
* TIMING...SNOW WHICH HAS ALREADY DEVELOPED IN NORTHWEST MISSOURI WILL SLOWLY BEGIN TO MOVE SOUTHEAST...REACHING THE INTERSTATE 35 CORRIDOR NEAR OR JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT. AS RAIN TRANSITIONS TO SNOW...A BRIEF PERIOD OF SLEET MAY BE POSSIBLE. SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH DAYBREAK AND INTO THE MID MORNING HOURS OF WEDNESDAY BEFORE ENDING BY MID-DAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS THE KANSAS CITY METRO WILL AVERAGE BETWEEN 1 AND 3 INCHES. SLIGHTLY HIGHER AMOUNTS BETWEEN 3 AND 5 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE IN NORTHEASTERN KANSAS AND NORTHWESTERN MISSOURI.

* IMPACTS...SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE VISIBILITY...PARTICULARLY DURING THE MORNING RUSH HOUR WEDNESDAY. SNOW ACCUMULATION ON ROADS...RAPIDLY FALLING TEMPERATURES...AND RESTRICTED VISIBILITY DUE TO BLOWING SNOW WILL COMBINE TO MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS TONIGHT THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING. THOSE TRAVELING ON WEDNESDAY SHOULD PREPARE AND PLAN FOR DELAYS DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE.
