“Do-it-yourselfers” looking to save money on home and auto repairs need look no farther than the Technical Education Center at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
In addition to a wide variety of career classes, Adult Continuing Education offers more than a dozen classes in such wide spread areas as refinishing or reupholstering a piece of furniture, tiling a bathroom or kitchen floor or basic home repair or remodeling.
“Most people are reluctant to take on home projects because of the concern of making a costly mistake,” said Rich Piper, Director of Technical Programs. “However, those concerns can be alleviated at KCKCC-TEC through the guidance and valued information from a staff of instructors who have been successfully guiding people through home projects for years and years.”
Basic courses to be offered this fall include Automotive Care, Furniture Refinishing and Repair, Furniture Upholstery, Home Repair and Remodeling and Cosmetic Auto Body Repair along with Elements of Landscaping Design and Beginning and Advanced Heat Pumps.
Still others are Major Appliance Home Repair, Basic Motorcycle, Paintless Dent and Small Engine Repair, Residential Wiring and Residential Inspection along with such specialty areas as Forklift Certification, Green Building, Energy and Living; and 80 percent and 90 percent Efficiency Furnaces.
Most of the classes will begin the last week in January with some of the more popular classes offered again in March and April.
