Frigid shooting foiled Kansas City Kansas Community College in its bid for a pair of wins at Johnson County Wednesday night.
Shooting just 26.7 the first half, the Blue Devil men fell behind 31-23 en route to a 62-48 setback while the Lady Blue Devils were just 6 of 26 the opening half for 23.1 percent in a 65-36 loss.
The Blue Devils are now idle until next Monday when the men play On Point Hoops, a basketball development academy in Oklahoma City at 5 p.m. The Lady Blue Devils return to action on Wednesday in a Jayhawk doubleheader at Independence at 6 and 8 p.m.
Ranked No. 3 nationally in Division II, the Johnson County women limited KCKCC to 25.9 percent shooting for the game and forced 23 turnovers to run their record to 13-1.
Alexandria Blaurock had 11 points and six rebounds and Paris Johnson 10 points for KCKCC (4-10). Dashawn Harden led JCCC with 15 points.
Christian Hildebrandt had 23 points and Pat Jones 10 assists to lead the Cavalier men, who were outrebounded 38-32 but forced 18 KCKCC turnovers.
Dominique Washington and Anthony Lane had 11 points each for the Blue Devils (3-10) while Evrard Atcho had nine rebounds and Washington seven. The game was the 800th for JCCC Coach Mike Jeffers.
