PHOTOS: KCKCC's Candlelighting Ceremony

Kansas City Kansas Community College got the Christmas season off in spectacular fashion with the 90th Candlelighting services Wednesday.
Highlights included vocalists Lanesha Wayne on “Santa Baby;” Allison Her and Kaleb Lorg on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside;” and Lisa Bloom on “Sleigh Ride” while Selene Soto and Ja’Ron Nichols led the KCKCC Concert Choir in “Who Is Like the Lord” and Jurgen Welge led the Latin Band is performing and singing.
The KCKCC Jazz Combo directed by Jim Mair opened the program followed by Welge and the Latin Concert Band and the Concert Choir directed by John Stafford II.
In addition to “Who Is Like the Lord,” the Concert Choir featured an all-male performance of “Mary Had a Baby” with soloist Braden Edwards and a rousing “Go Tell It On the Mountain” performance by an all-female chorus featuring Laquita English.
Two services were held with Shawn Derritt, Director of Counseling and a KCKCC graduate, delivering the feature address at the 11 a.m. service. Each service was concluded with the a performance of “Still, Still, Still,” by the Concert Choir, the lighting of the candles and singing of Christmas carols.
