KCK Board of Education honors Students of the Month

The Kansas City, Kan., Board of Education recently honored three students of the month.

Here they are, along with the nomination letters from teachers.

"Arturo Valdez-Zamora is a 3rd grader at Silver City Elementary who has made great strides during the last year and beginning of this school year.  He has become very focused and productive.  He helps his classmates understand the lesson at hand.  He is becoming a leader for his peers to look at as an example of excellent school behavior.  We are proud to nominate Arturo as student of the month from Silver City Elementary."  -- Sincerely, Teachers Lauren Sosinski and LaDonna Flippin.
"When I first began teaching at Eisenhower Middle School last fall, Will Davis was a quiet, unassuming student.  However, over the past year, Will grew into a very involved student leader in the classroom.  Will is a highly active member of Eisenhower’s Men’s Choir and vocal music program, and has proven to be a leader both in and out of the classroom as an 8th grader this year.  He is most deserving of this honor and recognition."  -- Sincerely, Eli Jones, Vocal Music Teacher

"Victoria’s smile lights up a class.  Her positive attitude rubs off not only on her classmates, but her teachers too.  She is a highly motivated senior at J.C. Harmon that is dependable, trustworthy and is very involved in many activities in and out of the school building.  Victoria has been a Senators Page, working for Senator Haley in Topeka.  She has volunteered as a tutor, worked with the YAC (Youth Advisory Committee) of the PTA to help sponsor getting school supplies for the homeless and less fortunate.  I am very proud to write this recommendation."  -- Sincerely, Steve Howard, Teacher and Track Coach
