WORCESTER, Mass.- Kansas City dropped both 7-inning games of a doubleheader, each by the score of 8-1, to the Worcester Tornadoes at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Saturday night.
In the first game of the night, KC and Worcester were tied, 1-1, heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Tornadoes went on to score seven runs against Shaun Garceau (7-4) in the frame on four hits, two errors and a walk, taking an 8-1 lead to the top of the seventh. KC was retired 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh.
In the nightcap, Worcester jumped on T-Bones starter Josh Rainwater (4-8) in the first three innings, scoring four in the first inning, two in the second, and two more in the third.
The first inning included a three-run home run by Chris Torres and the second was highlighted by a two-run shot by Brendon Kelliher.
Rainwater was chased in the third after allowing a two-run homer to Jimmy Best that made the score 8-0.
The losses drops KC to 43-38 overall. The T-Bones will now regroup after a 4-5 East Coast road trip with back-to-back days off and resume their schedule on Tuesday night at 7:05 against the Lincoln Saltdogs at Community America Ballpark.
