Described as a "male in his mid-50's," the victim was found dead by firefighters right after they arrived on the scene, which was just after 8:15 p.m.
According to Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department battalion chief Craig Duke, the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department and KCK Fire Department are both investigating the scene of the fire Wednesday afternoon.
No cause is known at this point.

Crews on the scene within 2 minutes reported heavy fire and smoke coming from a residential mobile home. Mobile home was totally involved. Crews were informed that a male resident was inside the structure. Crews immediately took attack lines into the front of the structure and immediately located an individual who had suffered fatal burn injuries. BPU and Gas Services were called to shut off utilities to structure. Fire Command secured the area for fire fatality investigation. As per fire fatality protocols Police Detectives responded to scene. Fire was under control within 30 minutes. Roof of structure had collapsed. Scene was secured by PD and Fire personnel overnight for investigators to go in during daylight hours. Fire Investigators remain on the scene at this time to continue their investigation. Victim was a male in his mid-fifties who lived alone at the residence. No other injuries reported.
