Kansas City, Kan., Public Schools will have some of their students return to the classroom on Friday.
All elementary school students, sixth-graders and ninth-graders will hit the books and begin their 2012-13 school year. All new students at Sumner Academy are also heading back to school.
The district will hold a district-wide Family Advocacy Day at all of its preschools. Remaining students return to school next week.
