Sandra Pearson, M.H.A., R.H.I.A., has been selected as the regional director of Health Information Management (HIM) Site Operations for Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., Saint John Hospital, Leavenworth, Kan., and St. Francis Health Center, Topeka, Kan.
In her new position, Pearson will be responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the Health Information Management function for the hospitals, including release of information, record completion, meeting Joint Commission standards, and complying with HIPAA privacy regulations.
“While it is an incredible challenge to be in health care today, it is also a very exciting time,” Pearson says. “The work done in HIM is diverse and rewarding. I feel fortunate to be participating in the implementation of a new electronic medical record system, eSummit with Epic, at all three hospitals in the coming months. The positive impact this will have on patient care, processes and in meeting meaningful use will be significant.”
Pearson has more than 17 years of health information management experience, leading to her new role with Providence, Saint John and St. Francis. Most recently, she served as the director of Health Information Management and privacy officer for BryanLGH Medical Center, Lincoln, Neb.
Pearson received her bachelors of science in health information from Dakota State University, Madison, S.D., and her masters in health care administration from Bellevue University, Bellevue, Neb. She is a Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (C.P.E.H.R.), and is a registered health information administrator.
Pearson has relocated to the Kansas City area from Lincoln, along with her family. She enjoys spending time outdoors biking, walking, running, camping and boating.
She also likes to cook and spend time with family and friends.
