The Kansas City T-Bones suffered a tough 10-1 defeat against the Kansas City Kansas Community College All-Stars in an exhibition game on Wednesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
Behind the bat of Poncho Amaya, the KCKCC All-Stars scored all 10 runs in the final four innings.
After getting a single and scoring in the sixth inning, Amaya blasted a two-run homer to left field in the eighth inning and then an RBI double in the ninth.
He later scored his third run of the contest. Jake Woods had three hits and scored two runs, and Dean Long had two RBIs and scored two runs for the All-Stars.
Devin Anderson threw three strong innings for the T-Bones, striking out four and giving up one single.
Kansas City’s lone run came on an aggressive base-running play in the second inning. With Kala Ka’aihue at third base and Reid Fronk at first, Fronk took off for second.
When the throw went to second, Ka’aihue scored from third. That gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead.
The loss gives the T-Bones a 1-1 record on the exhibition season.
