Five individuals were taken to the hospital early this morning after a fire on Central Avenue in downtown Kansas City, Kan.
Kansas City, Kan., firefighters responded to the scene of a fire on 12th and Central Avenue at around 11:20 p.m. late Tuesday night.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this point.
At least 20 individuals were inside the building where the fire was located. Two of the five injured people are listed in serious condition at a local hospital.
The three-floor building is made of brick and all three floors were on fire. The fire reached the roof of the building.
During the fire, KCK firefighters used a ladder to rescue people from the third floor. Floors and the roof on the building collapsed due to the fire.
Firefighters battled the fire in the early morning hours on Wednesday. The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
