The KU Family Medicine Department, along with partners A Better KCK and
Community Creating Opportunities (CCO), are launching two SBHCs in
Wyandotte County this Spring.
The SBHCs, located in Wyandotte High School and Northwest Middle
School, will aim to address the large unmet health needs of adolescents
in the county.
With the launch date occurring later this month, is it imperative to
get community members around the same table talking about the project
and the health needs in the county.
In order to do this, KUMC and partners at UMKC are organizing a community forum.
The WyCo SBHC Community Forum will take place on Thursday, April 5th
from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at St. Peter CME Church (at 1419 N. 8th Street,
Kansas City, Kansas 66101).
The objectives of this meeting are: to provide an general overview of
the school-based health center project, identify key stakeholders
wanting and willing to participate, finalize the community's role in the
health centers, assess community perspectives on successful SBHC
outcomes, and address any questions and concerns.
This forum will be organized like a town hall meeting, but will also
provide the opportunity to speak towards specific components of the SBHC
project through rotating stations.
Please RSVP to Arden Day at dayad@umkc.edu.
