WINFRED "JACK" McDOWELL

Winfred G. "Jack" McDowell, Jr., 84, of Olathe, KS, passed away April 1, 2012 in Olathe, KS.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Wed., April 4 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 1:30-2:30 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Jack was born March 1, 1928 in Louisburg, KS, the son of Winfred & Wanda (Reed) McDowell. A lifelong area resident of the Louisburg - KC area, he attended school in Louisburg and was a welder. He worked for Darby's Corp from 1946-1968, and Ford Motor Co., until his retirement in 1993. He was a UAW member, a hunter, a fisherman and he followed all KC sports.
He loved the Royals and KU Basketball, and made a point to go to as many family members' sporting events as possible. He was particular about his yard and took good care of it. He will be remembered as a hard worker, a good provider and loving man. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son: W. Gerald McDowell III; three sisters and a brother.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Mary McDowell of Olathe, KS; children: Keith McDowell and wife Janice of KCK, Michael McDowell of Gardner, KS & Linda McDowell of Gardner, KS; three grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
